School Internship program at St Mary's HSS, Pattom, Tvpm

Week 1

  

        School internship program began on 18th November 2019. The session is from 18 th nov to 24th January 2020. On the first day I reached school before time. The school timing is from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm. We were a group of 10 student teachers. We went to the head master's office  and marked the attendance. Sir gave us the necessary instructions and the list of duties to be performed by us when we were in the school. We were given the balcony area of main auditorium. We arranged some desks and benches and placed our materials there. I was given the class IX G. It is in the Mother Theresa block. I felt really happy and privileged for having given such a school which is Asia's biggest school. After that I met my concerned teacher, Mrs. Shirley Kurian ma'am. She signed my lesson plan and gave me some instructions and advice before entering into the class. She advised me to use ICT in the classroom.

My class experience. 

           My period was second. I was given class IX G. The total strength of the class was 46. It was boy's class. My period started at 10.10 am. I introduced myself to the whole class. Then I began the class with an interesting puzzle. Then started the topic area of circles. Asked questions in order to check their previous knowledge. Some students were very attentive and asked doubts but I felt that some others are not listening. So I asked them questions and tried to improve their interest in the topic. I succeeded in it and their level of concentration improved. Then students filled the activity charts. I concluded the class after reviewing the topic. Then gave an assignment question. By 10.50 the bell rang and I left the class. 

              On the second day my period was fourth. So we went to the kitchen. The staffs gave us some onions to peel and some vegetables to cut. After some time doing some simple jobs we left the place. Then I prepared for my class and arranged all the teaching aids and activity cards. Then went to the class. My topic was circle measures. I showed some models based on sector of circles. On wednesday and thursday my topic was length and angle in circles and on friday started the next topic angle and area. On all the days I gave activity cards, showed models and made the students  fill activity charts. My concerned teacher was present in the class whenever I was teaching.
